Service Description

Introductory Literature Course: Students will practice reading for details using E.B. White's chapter book Charlotte's Web. Students will be expected to complete daily novel-related activities, including video instruction, reading (12-14 pages per day), journaling, and reading checks. Specific focus will be given to plot, point of view, and types of characters. Students will complete the course by composing a descriptive paragraph. This course is designed for students ages 8+ who have completed the courses Let's Write Sentences and above during one of our regular writing sessions. Students who are starting out with this course (having no prior Home2Teach courses) do not require a writing sample. Important Note: Intersession courses are designed to be more independent than our normal writing sessions. All class activities will take place through the Canvas learning management system. There are NO class meetings scheduled for intersession courses. Students will receive regular, but not daily, interaction with their teacher. Time Required: Approximately 30 minutes a day. Scheduled class time is a suggestion; assignments may be completed at any time.
